My Best Session ........ so far!

A week ago we had one of the best speed sessions I have ever had. Tide, storm force winds and free time all combined to mean I got the chance to up some of my PB's for top speed and average. I upped my top speed slightly, from 35.5knots to 35.8knots but significantly upped my average to 33.8knots. I thought that would be it until the Autumn gales.

For the first time in real speed conditions I felt in total control, able to read the water and use the wind better than ever before.

Ghosts at The Brace

Jurjen van de Noord captured on film by Angelo Pecere for the Ghosts of Speed Documentary
I think this is the best Speed Windsurfing picture I have ever seen. It somehow demonstrates the tranquil zone that you enter as you get close to your top speed. It shows the perfect tuning of the body and the rig. You can almost feel the power in the sail as you look at the stance and twist of the sail. It was taken by Angelo Pecere who is currently building up a lot of film and pictures for what is already a film I cannot wait to see, The Ghosts of Speed. You can follow the progress here on stalkerbook.

50knot Barrier Destroyed by more than 1

The view from Portland Bill across Weymouth Bay
So far this seems to be a great year for windsurfing, with sessions every day so far for many. It was only the brave who dared get wet today though, with violent winds hitting the UK from Cornwall up to Northern Scotland.

For a few days previous it looked like West Kirby would fire up again, and this time it did not look too broad. In fact the forecast was promising an almost perfect direction.

It came! The Dutch also came to give us another lesson in speedsurfing!

Invitation to 'The Bus' from SpeedsurfingBlog

I feel quite honoured, this morning Erik Loots invited me to become a collaborator and editor on his well respected Speedsurfingblog. I do believe him to be one of the pioneers in terms of attempting to get our loved sport out to the masses. I have edited my first article that he wrote about the "10 SpeedSurfing DO-NOTS!" He has many informative articles and all along I had no intention of trying to compete with any others out there, I want to work with all the other speedsurfers to get our sport more well known and respected.
